A Louisiana-bred filly by Bind worked the fastest eighth-mile in :10 during the April 5 under tack show for the Texas 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale at Lone Star Park. The breeze show was held under sunny skies with a steady headwind throughout the day.
Consigned as Hip 57 by Pike Racing, agent, the filly was the sixth horse to breeze in the under tack show. Named Wupka, she was bred by Terry Adcock out of the Songandaprayer mare Anne Margaret, who has produced four winners. Two of those winners are stakes-placed, including $346,012 earner Adrianne G , who won 11 times, and D. S. Shine Young Futurity runner-up Victory Trip .
A single horse worked a quarter-mile during the under tack show, with Hip 113, a Midshipman colt bred in Ohio by Jayme Klosterman, clocking the distance in :24 4/5. The colt is out of the Suave daughter Italian Rapsody, a half sister to three stakes winners, including Bashford Manor Stakes (G2) winner Duality , as well as the dam of Darley Australian Cup (G1) winner Super Cool.
“We had a nice crowd on hand today with more people in attendance than I remember over the past several years,” said sales director Tim Boyce. “We had some very strong works on the track, despite a pretty solid headwind.”
Videos of the under tack show will be posted on the Texas Thoroughbred Association Sales website. The sale will be held April 7 starting at 12 p.m. CT with 122 horses cataloged.
