“Black trans people, and trans people on the whole, don’t want to be remembered. We want to be known — and knowing us doesn’t happen on one day of the year. It happens every day of the year.” Ianne Fields Stewart (she/they) is the founder of The Okra Project, a collective that seeks to address the global crisis of violence against trans people by supporting, feeding, and providing resources to Black trans people. Ianne recently chose Dominique Morgan (she/her) to serve as The Okra Project’s brand new Executive Director, and together they plan to keep building, feeding, and nourishing their community. #MoreTogether
