situated among the rolling hills of bedonia near parma, italy, the project by lucio serpagli occupies an isolated brick-clad belvedere house overlooking the surrounding landscape. the shape of the building makes the most of its sloping site and panoramic position, heightening the effect with a single pitch roof and an open circular court plan. meanwhile, light is the key element that marks the volumes and spaces of ‘house in bedonia’.irregular windows disrupt the continuity of this brick-clad house in italy

lucio serpagli develops a 280 sqm (3000 sqft) dwelling that is divided into two levels, while sought to organize the rooms around a slightly elliptical space. the lower floor comprises a living area with dining room and kitchen, plus two bathrooms and two bedrooms. the second level features two bedrooms, one bathroom, a living room, and a library. irregular windows disrupt the continuity of this brick-clad house in italyhouse in the landscape

the facades are covered with irregular windows consisting of stone thresholds and wooden frames. the paving is clad in cherry wood and local sandstone, and the walls are tinted white. in this house, light is the leading element defining the house’s volumes and spaces. as opposed to the clear light of a typical glasshouse, here, the shapes and the materials conspire with the proportioned windows of this brick house to generate a kind of ‘spent’ light.irregular windows disrupt the continuity of this brick-clad house in italymain facadeirregular windows disrupt the continuity of this brick-clad house in italy
