Park City, Utah news outlet TownLift shared a video of a teenager getting charged by a moose in a public park.
It doesn’t appear that anybody was injured, and the context leading up to the video is unclear. Not sure if the moose was provoked, but it does seem odd that the kids were standing so close and filming.
The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources is warning:
“Due to drought conditions this summer, people may see more moose in urban areas in search of water sources”
I’m taking a trip out to Park City in a couple of weeks and I’m hoping to spot some moose from a distance, but not up close. I’d prefer to not have to run for my life while on vacation, but I also know not to provoke them…
I gave the Utah DWR’s guide for moose encounters a good read through to prep for my trip. You can check out the full article here. Could come in handy if you spot encounter a moose out on the trail.
