located on the pedestrian street in the historical center of lviv, ukraine, YOD studio has designed ‘MAD bars house,’ a six-story venue that gathers five bars and restaurants under one roof. every floor function as a different bar, but all share a common color palette and stylistics. furthermore, each staircase features a mosaic pixel, showing the percentage of alcohol inherent in a particular floor, while increasing as the floor increases.
the first floor – varvar pub – the long wooden bar counter

to highlight the value of the XIX century building, YOD studio left some brick walls partly uncovered. the interior of the project reveals respect for local culture and craft traditions. upon entering the building, the visitor starts from the ‘varvar pub’ on the first floor. this level houses a long wooden bar counter without any joint, made from the oak that used to be timber joists about 150 years ago, and screens with sports broadcasting.

custom-made glass lamps, vintage bauhaus chairs, and high shelves with wine bottles from all over the world complete the ‘win bar’ on the second floor. besides, appears a decorated wall with wooden casting molds. following the stairs to the third floor, a pure and clear area open towards; light wood, white tiles, dimmed light clad the ‘wona restaurant,’ while an open kitchen is set in the same space as a stage for gastronomic shows. meanwhile, the fourth level takes the form of a big kitchen where all dishes for the different floors menus are being prepared.the second floor – win bar
on the fifth floor, the ‘buzz bar’ takes shape as a classical american bar with a square counter in the middle of the hall. a carpet with an artistic pattern clothes the floor, and rich light reflects the relief steel sloping ceiling. the sixth floor dubbed ‘molfar bar.’ its interior houses some dark glass bottles, deep lounge chairs, an open fireplace, furs, shadows, fragrances, and a chamber-like atmosphere.the sixth floor – molfar bar – a ukrainian bar mixology, where ingredients were prepared in its own laboratory from local herbs and plants.the first floor – varvar pub – self-service area, clients can pour some beer into a glass and pay for it by themselvesthe first floor – varvar pubthe second floor – win bar – the wall is decorated with wooden casting moldsthe third floor – wona restaurant – the open kitchenthe third floor – wona restaurant.the fifth floor – buzz bar – a classical american bar, with a stage and a DJ place.the fifth floor – buzz bar
